Most mountain bike teams start small and grow quickly; it’s a tremendous challenge but highly rewarding! Our focus is on youth development rather than competition. There are no tryouts. There is no pressure to perform. No one sits on the bench.

While the Delaware League does host a race series, there is no requirement to race in order to be part of a club/team.

So You Want To Form a Mountain Bike Team or Club?

Awesome! You are a rock star! The impact that you will have on the development of young student athletes will be significant and widespread.

Can I Do It?

Yes you can! Administrators, teachers, parents, students and/or community members can start a cycling club in their community and neighborhood or at their local middle/high school.

Do I Need To Be a Pro Cyclist?

Nope! Extensive cycling experience is not necessary. One should simply have the desire to introduce kids to the sport of mountain biking and possess a positive attitude.

Now What?

We will help you! Once you have decided to create a team, the League can help educate you and provide you with all the tools necessary to be an excellent head coach and team manager. Starting a mountain bike team is a large undertaking, and the more support you have from your local community the easier it will be.
